About Jody Ziehm
Jody is a self taught, life long learner. Her studio/gallery is in her home in Niagara Falls New York. She is a devoted watercolor artist who creates drama in her paintings by turning up the “volume” with color. She invites the viewer in by creating mystery in her darks, while preserving the whites of the paper for the lights.
She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, curates an annual holiday open studio. and is currently a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society.
She enjoyed the excitement of interactions with people viewing her art by participating in juried
outdoor art festivals across New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida winning
countless awards.
Most recently Jody has a built a portfolio of watercolors inspired from hosting “Artful Travels” .
Heartfelt guided tours throughout Europe, Alaska, US National Parks, New England, Toronto and
New York City. We come together to explore city, villages and landscapes with their rich histories
weaving together art cultures and shared discoveries.
Jody is an experienced TV host of “The Art of Watercolors with Jody Ziehm” for 14 years on local
cable community programing. It can be seen on demand at www.LCTV.Net.
Her energetic approach has led her to a fulfilling 26 year teaching career. She conducts 3 weekly classes to adult students of all levels. She has built a community of caring and enrichment thru watercolors. Stressing the importance of expression with experimental techniques, supplies, and
color. This has led to invitations to teach professional development for art teachers in the school systems, demonstrating for art associations and workshops in New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada, and Watercolor Salons at the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State University. Jody
coordinates and teaches an annual Fall workshop at the world renowned Chautauqua Institution.
Jody hosts a summer tradition of “Watercolors In My Garden” workshop that combines her love of flowers and gardening.
Jody’s paintings are in permanent collections of Roswell Park Cancer Institute - Buffalo New York, Our Lady Of Peace Home - Lewiston New York, Canterberry Woods Senior Living and Care - Williamsville New York, Episcopal Senior Life-Rochester New York , Alkegen Corporate Offices-
Japan, Websters Bistro and Bar- North Tonawanda New York, John P. Daly Children’s Library within the Lewiston Public Library, a whimsical installation “Animals are Reading and Doors are Opening” a grant by East Hill Foundation.
Also in private collections throughout the US and Canada.
Her career highlights include - Induction in the North Tonawanda High School Visual and Performing Arts Wall of Fame.
Her paintings have been selected for promotional and collectable posters including Buffalo Garden Walk, Canandaigua Waterfront Festival and Plantaisia, WNY’s premier Garden and Landscape Show.
